West Valley Academy, a not-for-profit, private K-12 school is a true country school; ideally located in the magnificent coastal highlands 8 miles west of McMinnville, Oregon, free from urban and suburban distraction. The school, which resides on 3 acres of land edged by huge oak trees, is located in the village of Ballston. We have on-going green house and horticultural projects and offer a fine arts program consisting of sewing, pottery, drawing, and drama. West Valley offers their students an accredited diploma acceptable for the university bound student. Our staff is composed of Oregon licensed and certificated teachers, volunteer tutors, screeners, and counselors.

Our students come from myriad backgrounds. As individuals, each has contributions to make to his or her family and community. Our mission is to support our student’s physiological, academic and psychological needs, guiding them to achieve their fullest potential as self-supporting community members. Our students may have labels: autistic...dyslexic...learning disabled...developmentally delayed...ADD..ADHD...normal... still others may have fallen through the cracks and lack motivation or the skills necessary to achieve. Foreign students attend for our specialized “English as a Second Language” (ESL) programs. The common thread which binds them is that most of our students have not reached their potential within a traditional school setting. From the time they enter West Valley, we engage our students in an intensive process of transformation.
