Summer Update
The yard sale held in conjunction with Alcove Day netted approximately $125. Thanks to all the members who donated items for the sale. The original purpose, which was to get people to visit the school house, was also accomplished in that we registered several new members and had visitors who had never seen the building.
We cleaned the road in April and will again be cleaning the road on August 6th. It is fun and good exercise. If you can help, call Ann Greene (756-6486). We meet at the school at 10 AM.
The Ice Cream Social was well attended. Beatrice Mattice of Conesville gave a very interesting account of her trip west following the paths of early Schoharie Valley people who moved westward in the 1800’s.
The annual Ham Dinner was also successful. Thanks to all who helped. The profit enables us to meet our basic yearly expenses.
A new copper-coated lead roof will be installed on the belfry by the Greenport roofing Company of Hudson. The style of this roof is designed to reflect the age of the building. Upon completion of this project, we will begin seeking bids for the main roof. Also please notice that the flag pole has been straightened and painted.
Plans for the fall open houses have been finalized:
Sept. 11 - Laura Palmer and Augusta Wolfe will present an organ recital on the newly restored pump organ.
Sept. 18 - Vince Forte, a Schenectady artist, will exhibit his paintings.
Sept. 25 - Bob Whitbeck and Ken Morse will present a concert of country music to listen to or to sing with.
Oct. 2 - Dawn Muller Forsythe will demonstrate silk screening techniques.
